Imetai M. M. Henderson completed his two-year basic course in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Kototama Institute, Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1985. At 19, he was one of the youngest Americans to be Board Certified and State Licensed to practice acupuncture in the United States. Subsequently, he attended a two-year internship in Santa Fe, followed by a three-year internship in New York City. From 1989 until 1993, he participated in an externship under the guidance of O’Sensei M. M. Nakazono, the founder of Inochi Life Medicine and of the Kototama Institute. Imetai has also studied the Japanese martial art of Aikido since the age of four. He presently holds the rank of Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt).
Imetai has been in private practice in New Mexico, Connecticut, New York, and Colorado for almost 30 years. In 1995, he developed Source Therapies and founded the Red Branch School of Oriental Medicine. His school respects the traditional teacher/apprentice paradigm, and the ancient medical connection to Budo.
Source Therapies combine the traditional forms (Pre-WW2) of acupressure, acupuncture, moxibustion and diet, along with spiritual and emotional insights, as directed by traditional Five Element Diagnosis and Treatment.
